When the team visited St Francis’ RC Primary in March, they were impressed by how the work on asylum and refugee matters had been part of the school for some years even before they joined the School of Sanctuary network. They enthusiastically embraced the 36,000 Humans project, which seeks to commemorate those who have lost their lives in the Mediterranean in their search for safety. This involved a huge display in the hall, and prayer chains and thousands of thumb-prints pinned up along the main corridor.
Two classes from St Francis’ also took part in the poetry workshops during Refugee Week.
