When the team visited Abbey RC Primary in May to look at the evidence portfolio for the School of Sanctuary award, they saw not only evidence of ongoing commitment to spreading the word about asylum-seekers and fund-raising for refugee charities, but also met lively and extremely well-informed and compassionate children who were able to tell us what they were doing and why they were doing it.
Abbey is already working on the “Little Amal” project, featuring a giant puppet of a Syrian child walking across Europe (see photo). Some of the children also took part in the poetry workshops organised during Refugee Week.
