St Anne`s Catholic Primary School in Chelmsley Wood (Solihull) received the School of Sanctuary award at a special assembly on 30th September. During the assembly, children ranging from five to ten years old were keen to tell us what they knew about sanctuary and asylum seekers. The school, which is not in an area with a significant number of asylum seekers or refugees, works hard to inform the pupils about the situation across the world and in the UK. We were impressed not only by the children’s knowledge but also by the ways they showed their caring and empathy.
