St Vincent’s Primary School in Nechells was given the School of Sanctuary award four years ago, and has maintained its commitment to being a place of welcome and safety for asylum-seekers and refugees with dedication and consistency. On 9th December 2019, Years 5 and 6 invited local asylum-seekers to a pre-Christmas event with three types of soup, five types of bread, all made by the children and all delicious. They also provided music and poetry for the visitors, and were happy to be present as the Head Teacher Janet Tibbits and the Head Girl and Head Boy received their new updated Sanctuary Award.
