We were delighted to present St Vincent’s Primary School (Nechells) with its FOURTH Sanctuary Award. We believe that this is not only the first school to receive the Award for the fourth time, but also the first organisation in the whole country!
In September 2025 St Vincent’s celebrated its tenth anniversary of receiving its first award, marking over a decade of commitment to its ethos of welcome and hospitality. Over the years the school has welcomed refugees into school, has taken part in national art projects and shared its work at an international meeting organised by Churches’ Refugee Network, devised an activity for Lent workshops which they shared with other schools, and, most recently, provided the choir which performed at the Birmingham City Council’s ten-year Sanctuary celebration in December 2025.
This is a really impressive track record, showing stamina and steadfastness, and we look forward to seeing what they do next!
